De-restrict my Honda xlr125 to go faster?

I wanted more speed/power from my 2001 Honda xlr125r motorcycle and so I went on a search to see what could be done. I came across a site where owners of Honda xlr's were all asking about de-restriction and if it could be done, saying there is a difference between Japanese models and British models. I looked further into this and apparently on the Japanese models there is a small black box situated under the tank or there abouts with three yellow wires. The owner who wrote this says he put an extra hole in the air box, put a switch on all three wires and played around with different on/off combinations and found his Honda
xlr125 would wheelie in 1st and 2nd gear!?. First make sure you do have a Japanese Honda if
you decide to try this method as there is the same kind of box on the British motorcycle(the bike i own) and after hours in the shed realised with the British motorcycle it doesn't work. If anyone is successful please post your results or even if your not, leave a comment to put this theory right! thanks.

If your bike is the same as most Hondas the 3 wires are from the grenerater. By turning it off you will take a little load off the engine giving you a little boost in power but you won't be charging the battery so don't do it for long.
A bit like turning of the air con in a car. Wouldn't have thought you'd notice the difference.

Hi thanks for your reply, I found that idea on an xlr chat room on the web somewhere and didint know if it worked or not. The person who wrote the post talked of wheelies and alot more power but il take your answer for whether it works. thanks alot nicolas lee.

The ignition only sparks 3 out of four times on these bikes. Find the CDI unit and place a switch on the yellow wire. You should find a noticable increase in power.

I've read the bike is also restricted by the regulator and a simialar workaround to the above can be done. Increased voltage to the plug = more burnt fuel = more power.

Ditching the original airbox and filter is a big help too. Fit a K&N or similar

More air and more fuel = fun fun fun!

Anyone know if xlr 185 parts would fit? Like a camshaft and valves?
