Good motorcycle cover and cheap alarm?!
For every motorcycle owner that doesn't have the privilege of a garage or indoor storage, this is a good strong cover that is cheap and does the trick but not only that iv found its quite noisy when it comes to removing it, which is quite handy as it will most probably wake your dog or yourself if anyone try's stealing your bike over night! definitely worth buying at this price and is one of the noisiest iv seen.

making an xr/xl125 exhaust fit an xlr125 01 with just a bracket.
The answer to the Honda xlr125 exhaust(silencer) being so hard to find is that they rust away so quickly and everyone wants one. What I did was to simply use one from an xr/xl125 and it only needs a (5cm)straight bracket mechanism with nut and bolts holding it together at each end to fit. If you can see in the picture I've hung the end can around 3-4cm lower to miss the indicator light and the joint at the other end that connects to the down pipe wanted a bit of exhaust tape to make it fit snug. My Honda xlr125r o1 model even sounds better with the Honda xr125 exhaust as well as looking better so keep your eyes open for an xr exhaust as well because you will probably be needing one sooner than you think.
Also if anyone has pictures of an xlr125 with a neater back light setup or any tidy modifications please email to me at mrnjlee@hotmail.co.uk and il put them on the blog. Thanks, nick.

Aluminium performance exhaust for honda xlr125's!
I have been sent a link to a site called Protork.com which sells performance parts for motorcycles. The link below is the address to the aluminium exhaust for the xlr125 and to order it you take down the reference number for the colour you want and order by phone. As of yet I have no details on how long it takes to arrive in the UK or how much the part is, but if anyone has info on this part please email to the blog address, which is mrnjlee@hotmail.co.uk. What I can tell you is that its aluminium, which means it wont rust and if the exhausts any good i.e affordable and can be shipped to the UK and road legal it should help with the issue of rusting. Any more info would be helpful. thank Jason Newman (legacy2k) from trial bike forums for sending me the link.

Honda xlr front brake help wanted.
This post is intended to gather information on the front calliper of the xlr125. If anyone knows the name of the calliper and where to find a new one please comment or email me. I have managed to find two sites that stock service kits, brake pads, piston/seal kits and fluid for the xlr 125 but not actual callipers, maybe you can fit a number of different brake callipers to the xlr125 but a direct link to a stockist or company name would be best. The wemoto link is good for sevice kits, seals and piston service. I put up the braided hoses because they actually do make any bike look trick. As always, help is appreciated with any other links, advice or info on parts. nick

These pictures of a nice honda xlr125 were sent to me by someone who has used an xl 400 rear light cluster and says it "slots straight on the rear section of the rear fender". Id say it looks pretty nice and if there is any body else who's got modifications on there Honda's i.e parts from another xlr then please email the pictures and info to mrnjleelee@hotmail.co.uk.

Honda xlr's predeator exhaust....

Predator stainless steel road silencer assembly for Honda's XLR 125 R...???This xlr exhaust is made to fit the original equipment and is interchangeable with the original front pipe wich is good when it comes to keeping the cost down on this already expensive venture. It comes complete with all required fittings and it would interesting to hear what effects it has on the performance .
A spark eroda is built into silencer and it has manufacturers 10 Year warranty on stainless steel parts from this company. If anyone has one of these exhaust or alike, some further details on where's best to get one from and if there's any available for bigger cc Honda's you can email the info or send any pictures mrnjlee@hotmail.co.uk. much appreciated, nick.
l'll ad this link to Amazon for the belgom alu, its the best aluminium polish on the market and iv used it for years cleaning my dad stainless exhaust pipes, give it a try and you will notice it just keeps getting off dirt no matter how clean it already looks!

REDEX and you could have a faster Honda!

I heard that when motorbike engines are ran completely out of fuel they suck up any dirt that sits in the bottom of the fuel tank. This can clog up the petrol jets and carbs giving your Honda a very unhealthy feel when re-filled and ridden again. This happened to me a few months ago with my Honda XLR125 so I stripped down the carb and jet, gave it a good clean out and re-fitted to find it was back to normal(well kind of). A couple of weeks later when i visited my local garage I was talking about it with one of the mechanics and he told me the fuel system still might need cleaning and recommended I try REDEX. This is a red liquid(pictured right) that goes straight into the tank in a small dose which is indicated on the bottle, all you need to do is ride the motorcycle for it to start working. I put some into my Honda's petrol tank and went from the average feeling 50mph to over 65mph and the bike felt like it was pulling more as well. I realised that if I didn't run out of fuel that day I would probably still be riding at 50mph and recommend this stuff to any motorcycle or car enthusiast. Unless you have bought a new bike you never know how clean your fuel system is so its definitely worth giving it a try and you can order it from the Amazon link below!

Honda xlr125 oil change...a how to !
An engine oil change for your motorcycle is one good way of not only looking after your motorbike but making you and the engine feel allot better. To change the oil on a Honda xlr125r simply position the bike on the side stand( where the motorbike should be leaning to the left) and look for a hexagonal nut at the very bottom of the engine on the side, close to the front. Once you have found that nut make sure you have:
NEW FOUR-STROKE OIL (of correct specification)
A CONTAINER TO CATCH THE OLD OIL IN
A SPANNER THAT FITS THE NUT PERFECTLY
AND A CLEANING CLOTH TO WIPE UP THE MESS AFTER
Then, place the container underneath where the nut is and start to undo. You shouldn't have to completely take off the bolt for the oil to drain but you might want to clean the little filter that will pop out if you do. Once the engine oil is fully drained from the Honda engine put the nut back on finger tight and start to fill the engine with the new oil, checking the level with the dipstick as you go. If you manage to overfill the engine just loosen off the nut and let a little bit out to satisfy. Last of all tighten nut fully and wipe clean, dispose of the old oil correctly and run bike on tick over for a few minutes. You then simply take your healthy Honda xlr for a very good ride!

De-restrict my Honda xlr125 to go faster?
I wanted more speed/power from my 2001 Honda xlr125r motorcycle and so I went on a search to see what could be done. I came across a site where owners of Honda xlr's were all asking about de-restriction and if it could be done, saying there is a difference between Japanese models and British models. I looked further into this and apparently on the Japanese models there is a small black box situated under the tank or there abouts with three yellow wires. The owner who wrote this says he put an extra hole in the air box, put a switch on all three wires and played around with different on/off combinations and found his Honda
xlr125 would wheelie in 1st and 2nd gear!?. First make sure you do have a Japanese Honda if
you decide to try this method as there is the same kind of box on the British motorcycle(the bike i own) and after hours in the shed realised with the British motorcycle it doesn't work. If anyone is successful please post your results or even if your not, leave a comment to put this theory right! thanks.

Parts help for the Honda xlr 125/200 motorcycles?
Parts for the Honda xlr 125 motorcycle are hard to come by on the Internet and seem to be scattered around on various sites, most of which are not in English an so are deemed useless anyway! I have tried to gather a list of sites that supply parts worldwide and came up short but none the less the sites I have are still useful. I would recommend ebay.co.uk and wemoto.com as the most useful motorcycle parts suppliers although the few below are worth trying as well so copy and paste the addresses into the search bar I have provided and good luck!

Big carb kit for the Honda xlr125 ?

There is a site I recently found which sells big carburetor kits for most bikes including the Honda xlr125. You may spot from the pictures its a mikuni carb-(vm model). As there seems to be a shortage of tuning options for the Honda xlr125 I was quite amazed to see a main component such as a carbouretor become available so easily, although being reasonably expensive, it leaves me thinking if its worth it. If there is anyone who has purchased this carb please leave a post and give us an idea of its performance. I am yet to buy this part but i don't think many owners have heard this upgrade is available. I have left the site address underneath so you can check it out for yourself(i have even got you a google search bar to use at the top of the blog).

wemoto looks good....

I stumbled upon wemoto.com whilst searching for at least something about xlr125's on Google(which is why i started this blog) and found a very simple but satisfying website that delivers pattern parts, and quite a few at that. It does not however stock large parts such as tanks, frames or engine parts, only small parts which are most popular when servicing and changing major parts. All in all they are definitely worth bookmarking and they deliver within a week as well. The site address is www.wemoto.com (paste this into the google search bar at the top!)
